February 11th, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM - Winter Hike
Hikers will meet at 9:45 AM at the parking lot just west of Monksville Reservoir on Greenwood Lake Turnpike in front of the restored buildings. No pre-registration required, however there is a $5 fee for non-members. The hike will cover about 4 miles.
Each year, despite the cold weather, our winter hike has a super turn-out. By then cabin fever has swt in for most of us, and the lure of a walk in the winter woods is just too good to pass up.
This year we have chosen a hike in the Wanaque River Watershed around the Long Pond Ironworks. This helps to confirm our new commitment to act as watchdogs for this area, and is a facinating location for wildlife, scenery and history.
Please bring lunch and a beverage, since a lunch stop is scheduled around noon. And, dress for the weather. This event is rain or shine (within reason). If in doubt, check our voicemail at 973-492-3212 for a last minute update. Let‘s go!
